Geographically, the British Empire was the largest in history. In 1922, it covered over 34 million km2 (13 million mi2), which is approximately a quarter of the world’s total landmass. With territories on every continent except Antarctica, the empire spanned the globe from east to west, giving credence to the saying, “The Sun never sets on the British Empire.”

Largest emerald in matrix

The largest emerald in matrix was unearthed in Madagascar and measures 1.25 m (4 ft 1 in) long, 78 cm (2 ft 6 in) wide, 55 cm (1 ft 8 in) high, and weighs 536 kg (1,181 lbs). It is currently displayed at BaoQu Tang Modern Art Gallery in Hong Kong. Although the emerald is displayed in Hong Kong, it belongs to French company Orgaco.

The largest facial yoga class involved 220 participants and was organised by Smooth E Company Limited(Thailand) at Siam Paragon in Bangkok, Thailand, on 12 September 2010. The class lasted 35 minutes and was organised to promote skin health improvement by facial yoga.

The vampire squid (Vampyroteuthis infernalis) has the largest eye-to-body ratio of any animal in the world. Its body reaches a maximum length of 28 cm (11 in) while its eyes can have a diameter of 2.5 cm (0.9 in). According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SPIRI) Arms Transfers Database, the USA exported an annual average of $7,964,100,000 (£4,000,271,235) worth of arms – defined as major conventional weapons or systems in six categories: ships, aircraft, missiles, artillery, armoured vehicles and guidance and radar systems – in the ten years between 1998 and 2007. Largest explosive soap bubble

The largest exploding soap bubble was 25 cm (250mm) in diameter and was achieved by Gennadij Kil (AKA ‘Blub’- Germany) at the Centro de Crecion y Formacion Joven of Guia de Isora, Tenerife, Spain on 13 January 2011. Blub filled the bubble he made himself with propane butane gas before holding a lighter to it and watching it explode.

The largest Fattoush weighs 4,432.52 kg (9,772.03 lb) and was achieved by the Municipality of Kab Elias (Lebanon), in the city of Kab Elias, Lebanon, on 1 August 2010. The largest fandango dance consisted of 1,146 dancers and was organised by FUNDEV (Colombia) in Cereté, Cordoba, Colombia, on 30 November 2009. Fandango is a lively folk dance usually danced in couples. It is traditionally accompanied by guitars and castanets or hand-clapping.
