The largest gathering of people wearing swim caps was 2,049 at an event organised by the Tybee Post Theater (USA) on the South Beach of Tybee Island, Georgia, USA, on 1 January 2012. The attempt was part of Tybee Island’s annual Polar Bear Plunge, which took place directly afterwards. (Many participants were fully clothed, however, meaning that this attempt does not qualify for the largest polar bear dip.)

The Minnesota Twins defeated the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Both USA) during the evening game by a score of 5-3.
