The longest abacus measures 13.11 m (43 ft 0.14 in) and was achieved at an event organized by the Development & Reform Commission of Fuxin Municipal Government in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, China, on 25 October 2009. The abacus is 12.2 cm (4.8 in ) tall and consists of 570 wooden beams and 3,990 agate beads.
The longest 50-50 rail grind on a skateboard is 30.62 m (100 ft 5.75 in) by Rob Dyrdek (USA) on MTV’s The Rob & Big Show in Los Angeles, California, USA on 17 September 2007.
The largest truck-mounted boom is 86.177 m (282 ft 8.7 in) long, and was built by SANY Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (China) and measured in Changsha, Hunan, China on 29 September 2011. The boom is used as a concrete pump for bridges, tall buildings, and other large structures and was produced on 19 September 2011. The band Grabowsky (Germany) were applauded for 1 hr 30 min after a performance at Altes-Brauhaus-Musicclub in Frankenthal, Germany, on 7 December 2002. The band returned to play an encore of two songs after the applause finished.
The world’s longest running annual class reunion belongs to the Cherokee County Community High School’s class of 1929, which held its 77th class reunion in Columbus, Kansas, USA on 27 June 2006. Of the original class of 110 people, 6 are still alive, and only 4 former class members attended the reunion. They are already planning next year’s reunion! A baby boy born to Anna Bates (née Swan) (Canada) (1846–88), who measured 2.27 m (7 ft 5.5 in), gave birth to a boy measuring 76 cm (30 in) long at her home in Seville, Ohio, USA on 19 January 1879, but the baby (the heaviest birth at 10.8 kg (23 lb 12 oz))died 11 hours later.
The longest awareness ribbon measures 1005.7 m (3299 ft 3.48 in) and was achieved by Ummeed NGO (India), at Butchery ground, Cantt, Lucknow, India, on 6 May 2012. The record attempt took place on the eve of World AIDS Orphans Day. The awareness ribbon was created with red colour hand prints of 7000 children on a white drill cloth and a shape of HIV AIDS red ribbon.
The world’s longest avenue is the Nikko Cryptomeria Avenue comprising three parts converging on Imaichi City in the Tochigi Prefecture of Japan, with a total length of 35.41 km (22 miles). Planted in 1628–48, over 13,500 of its original 200,000 Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) trees survive, at an average height of 27 m (88 ft 6 in). Published on 1 August 2008 by Tokyo Shigesato Itoi Office K.K. (Japan), the audio book “50 Lectures” by Takaaki Yoshimoto (Japan) is 6,943 minutes (115 hours 43 minutes), making it the longest audio book. The audio book contains content from Mr Yoshimoto’s lectures from the 1960’s and 70’s. Yoshimoto is a Japanese poet, literary critic, and philosopher from Tokyo. He is the father of the famous Japanese writer known as Banana Yoshimoto and of the cartoonist Haruno Yoiko.
The longest asparagus measured 351.7 cm (138.5 in) when it was presented by Harry and Carson Willemse (both Canada) at the Port Elgin Pumpkinfest, Ontario, Canada on 2 October 2004.
