The longest castle is the “Burg zu Burghausen” which measures 1,051.02 metres (3,448 ft 2 in) long and is located in Burghausen, Germany. The definition of “castle” for this record is the definition of the Encyclopedia Britannica which reads “… medieval European stronghold, generally the residence of the king or lord of the territory in which it stands.”
The longest cartoon strip by an individual measured 191.31 m (627 ft 7.87 in) and was achieved by Suhas Palimkar (India) at the District Sports Complex in Beed, India, on 18 October 2013. It took Suhas approximately 22 hours to complete his cartoon strip.
The world’s longest carrot measured 5.841 m (19 ft 1.96 in) and was grown by Joe Atherton (UK). The carrot was measured at the UK National Giant Vegetable Championship in Somerset, UK, on 2 September 2007.
The longest carpet of flowers is 2,011 m (6,597 ft 9.07 in) and was created by the People’s Government of Kaifeng City (China) for the 29th Kaifeng Chrysanthemum Festival in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, China, on 18 October 2011. The event took place at the opening ceremony of the 29th Kaifeng Chrysanthemum Festival, which lasts one month. In order to transport wings and other large components of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft from production centres around the world for final assembly at the company’s facility at Everett, USA, Boeing unveiled the world’s longest cargo loader on 12 June 2006. Designed by TLD of Quebec, Canada, for Boeing, it measures 35.96 m (118 ft 1 in) long and will be used in conjunction with the modified Boeing 747-400 (“Dreamlifter”) freighters.
The record for the longest chain of condoms is 3,269.46 m (10,726 ft 6 in) and was achieved by PSI Romania in Unirii Boulevard, Bucharest, Romania, on the 28th October 2007. The chain consisted of 25.773 condoms and was tied together by 1683 participants. The condoms were of the romanian brand “Love Plus”
The longest chain of fire hoses is 63.206 km (39.274 miles) and was achieved by the South Tyrol Fire Brigades (Italy), in Bruneck and surrounding areas, Italy, on 31 May 2014. Water was carried successfully for the whole length of the chain in about 12 hours from start to finish. 2,700 volunteers from 6 different villages from the Plan De Corones area participated in the record attempt, 3,100 tubes (20 m each) and 126 water commercially available pumps were used for the attempt.
The longest chain of electrical extension cables measured 16,000 m (52,493.4 ft) and was comprised of 640 individual extension cables by MVV Energie AG (Germany) in Mannheim, Germany on 1 October 2006.
The longest chain of safety pins measures 1,901.8 m (3,582 ft 0 in) and was created by Misha Collins (USA), as part of the GISHWHES event at Central Park, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, on 15 August 2013 The number of safety pins in the entire chain was 43,098. This attempt was part of GISHWHES: The Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, Random Acts 501c3 largest single supporter.
