The longest painting by an individual measured 3,444.91 m (11,302 ft 2.11 in) and was created by Gurmej Singh aka Artist Singh (India), as displayed in Grand Rapids Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, on 14 September 2013. It took Gurmej Singh (Artist SinGh) 38 days to create the whole painting.
The longest painting measured 7,166 m (23,510 ft 5.98 in) and was achieved by 827 children on behalf of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (Eritrea), in Asmara, Eritrea, on 26 November 2011. The National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) organised this attempt to raise awareness for pollution, deforestation and desertification. The longest path in a temporary corn maze measured 16.826 km (10.45 miles) when opened to the public on 13 August 2005 in Flanders, Assenede, Belgium. The maze was designed and created by Workgroup Labyrinth.
The longest pathway in a permanent hedge maze measures 3,962.71 m (13,001 ft) and is held by the Pineapple Garden Maze at the Dole Plantation in Wahiawa, Hawaii, USA. The maze has a total area of 12,745.79 m (3.15 acres), it opened during 1997 and expanded in size in July 2007. This maze also holds the record for the largest permanent hedge maze.
The longest pasteli was a melekouni variety dessert and measured 30 m (98 ft 5 in) in length by 20cm (7 inches) in width and was created by twelve chefs in an event organised by the Association for the Development and Progress of the Dodecanese (DETAP) (Greece) at the Mandraki Harbour on the Island of Rhodes, Greece, on 26 September 2010. A passenger train created by the National Belgian Railway Company (NMBS) measured 1732.9m (5685.3ft) and consisted of 70 coaches pulled by one electric locomotive. It traveled 62.5km (38.9miles) from Ghent to Ostend on April 27, 1991. The train was a once-off creation in aid of a Belgian cancer research charity called ‘Kom op tegen kanker’ (Fight Against Cancer) and its journey was broadcast live on Belgian television. A pass completion of 99 yards has been achieved on 11 occasions in the National Football League (NFL) and has always resulted in a touchdown. The most recent occurrence was a pass from Eli Manning to Victor Cruz, for the New York Giants against the New York Jets (all USA) on 24 December 2011.
The common bedbug (Cimex lectularius), which feeds upon human blood is famously able to survive without feeding for more than a year. However the soft tick (Ornithodoros turicata) (which spreads the spirochaete that causes relapsing fever) can survive for periods of up to five years without food.
The longest parade float measures 791.5 m (2,596 ft 9.35 in) and was achieved by Hua Tiande and Liancheng Baihua Chemical Company Ltd, in Gutian, Fujian, China, on 6 February 2012. The whole dragon float consisted of 345 sections and exceeded 1,300 m (4,265 ft) in length. However, due to bad weather, by the end of the parade almost half of the sections were damaged and had to be discounted from the total record-breaking length.
The longest paperclip chain by an individual in 24 hours is 5,340ft (1,627.6m) long and was created by Dan Meyer of Davis, California, USA on 13–14 February 2004 using 54,030 1.2in (3cm) long paperclips.
