The attempt started at 9:02 am on 6 August and ended 9.02 am on 8 August. Ben Reeves is an Associate Editor at Game Informer and the attempt took place in Game Informer’s offices. The longest videogame marathon playing a role-playing game lasted 48 hr 14 min, and was achieved by Jeff Nation, JJ Locke, Casey Coffman, George Vogl and Jeff Sagedal, a.k.a. The Great Falls Gamers (all USA) at the Montana State University College of Technology in Great Falls, Montana, USA from 6-8 May 2012. The Great Falls Gamers played The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda Softworks, 2011). They previously held the record for the longest videogames marathon playing a First Person Shooter (FPS).
The longest marathon playing a racing game lasted 33 hours, achieved by Kenny Drews and Florian Fleissner (both Germany), who played Need for Speed: Most Wanted (EA, 2012) at City Center Langenhagen, Hannover-Langenhagen, Germany from 31 May 2013 to 1 June 2013.
The longest videogames marathon playing a platform game lasted 50 hours 1 minute, and was achieved by David Dino, Lauren Guiliano and Sean Crowley, who played LittleBigPlanet 2 (MediaMolecule, 2011) in the Sony Style PlayStation Lounge in New York City, New York, USA, from 17-19 January 2011. On 29 May 2009 a passive walking robot designed and built by the Nagoya Institute of Technology (Japan) walked non-stop for 13 hours and 45 minutes on a treadmill, completing some 100,650 steps over a distance of around 15.2 km. The robot was unpowered and derived its energy from the slope of the treadmill.
The longest wakeboard rail slide measured 46.87 metres (153 ft 9.27 in), and was achieved by Borij Levski (Slovenia), in Ptuj, Slovenia, on 2 July 2011. This record attempt used a wakeboarding cablelift to tow the rider as opposed to a boat. This system is similar to a ski lift in design and allows much more consistent towing characteristics.
