The fastest speed attained by a solar-powered vehicle is 91.332 km/h (56.75 mph) and was achieved by Kenjiro Shinozuka (Japan), who drove Ashiya University’s Sky Ace TIGA at Shimojishima Airport, in Miyakojima, Okinawa, Japan, on 20 August 2014. Kenjiro Shinozuka is a rally driver with a vast experience in participating in races. Glenn Suter (Australia) achieved a speed of 163.117 km/h (101.36 mph) whilst driving a motorised sofa, at an event organised by The Monkeys for Ice Break (Australia), at Camden Airport, New South Wales, Australia, on 26 September 2011. The record was broken to promote Ice Break iced coffee.
Børge Ousland (Norway) skied his way to the North Pole from the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago in the Russian Federation without any external assistance in 52 days from 2 March to 23 April 1994. He was also the first person to make a solo and unsupported journey to the North Pole from land. He did not use any form of motorised transport or parafoil kites.
Hannah McKeand (UK) skied her way to the South Pole from the Hercules Inlet at the edge of the Antarctic continent in 39 days 9 hr 33 min between 19 November and 28 December 2006. The former marketing manager made the journey – in 24 hours of sunshine – without resupplies. She ate noodles for breakfast and a freeze-dried meal for dinner, and snacked throughout the day on chocolate, salami, and the explorer’s favourite, Kendal mint cake – a total of around 6,000 calories day.

The fastest speed by a jet powered motorcycle is 202.55 mph (325.97 km/h) and was achieved by Kevin Martin (United States) on the Ballistic Eagle Jet Powered Motorcycle at the Spring Nationals, Rockingham, North Carolina, United States, on 24 April 2009. Kevin Martin covered 1/4 mile in 7.887 seconds and both the time and speed were certified by the IHRA (International Hot Rod Association).
