Tallest twins – male

Identical twins Michael and James Lanier (USA) (b. 27 November 1969) of Troy, Michigan, both stand 2.235m (7ft 3in). Their sister Jennifer is 1.57 m (5 ft 2 in) tall. . The brothers played  basketball at The University of Denver and UCLA, respectively.

Tallest twins – female

Identical twins Ann and Claire Recht (USA, b. 9 February 1988), were measured both horizontally and vertically, three times during 10 January 2007 in Oregon, USA and found to have an average overall height of 2.01 m (6 ft 7 in) and 2.01 m (6 ft 7 in) respectively.

Tallest twin towers

Although no longer the world’s tallest buildings, the 451.9-m (1,482-ft 7-in) Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, remain noteworthy as the world’s tallest matching pair of buildings. The 88-storey towers opened in March 1996.

Tallest tree living

The tallest tree currently growing is Hyperion, which measured 115.54 m (379.1 ft) in September 2006. This coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) was discovered by Chris Atkins and Michael Taylor (both USA) in the Redwood National Park, California, USA on 25 August 2006. The initial measurement read a height of 115.24 m (378.1 ft), however it was measured again by Dr Steve Sillett, Mike Taylor, Chris Atkins and Robert van Pelt by climbing it and dropping a tapeline. Tallest tower of paper cups built in 30 seconds

The tallest tower of paper cup built in 30 seconds was 27 cm (10.63 in) and was achieved by Masato Kajiwara (Japan) at McDonalds Sutepaten at Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan on 18 November 2010 in celebration of GWR day. The children were all from a kindergarten in Tokio. During the event, GWR presented McDonald’s Japan with a certificate for the most calendars sold in one year (1,476,442 units), a GWR record which had been achieved on 7 January 2010.

Tallest thistle

The tallest thistle measures 2.9 metres (8 ft 0 in) and was grown by Christine Sadler (Canada) in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada who measured it on 26 August, 2010. Christine found the thistle in her back garden and decided to leave it to continue growing to see how tall it could grow. It is believed to be a Bull Thistle, Cirsium vulgare, although it does have some characteristics of a Scotch Thistle, Onopordum acanthium.

Tallest Texas bluebonnet

The tallest bluebonnet flower (Lupinus harvardii) measured 164.5 cm (64.75 in) tall on 27 March 2005. The flower was discovered by Margaret Lipscomb and Arthur Bullis Cash (both USA) in Big Bend National Park, Texas, USA.

The thickest book measures 4.08 m (13 ft 6.63 in) in width and was produced by Zeitgeist Media as ascertained on 6 October 2010 at Frankfurt Book Fair, Germany. The huge book called Das dickste Buch des Universums (The thickest book of the universe) contains texts and drawings from children sent in for a contest held by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs of Germany and announced in Käpt’n Blaubärs Verkehrsfibel, a kids edutainment magazine for kids road safety. The thickest published book measures 322 mm (12.67 in) in width and was unveiled by HarperCollins in London, UK, on 20 May 2009. All Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple stories – 12 novels and 20 short stories – are collected and published in this volume. The book contains 4,032 pages and weighs 8.04 kg. There are 68 crimes committed; 11 philandering lovers; 68 secrets and lies; 22 false accusations; 59 red-herrings and 21 romances.
