Youngest recorded Violinist

Vanessa-Mae (UK) is the youngest soloist to record both the Tchaikovsky and Beethoven violin concertos, aged 13. Her recording of Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto in D (Op.35) and Beethoven’s violin concerto in D. (Op.61) in 1991 was released on the Trittico label, with proceeds of the sales pledged to charity. NB: Younger violinists may have recorded one of these concertos, but Vanessa-Mae is the youngest violinist to have recorded both, as far as is known. Youngest radio presenter

The youngest radio presenter is Kimberley Perez (b. 20 February 1998) (USA) who hosts a show every Saturday 3-7pm, on KLAX 97.9 La Raza FM, in Los Angeles, California, USA, which started when she was 5 years old. Perez began radio presenting by accidentally broadcasting on the air, aged 4. The response was overwhelming and she is well known in Los Angles County Latino radio stations and appears at local concerts promoted by La Raza FM.

Youngest Tour de France winner

The youngest ever winner of the Tour de France was Henri Cornet in 1904 aged 19 years 350 days. Cornet actually finished the race in fifth position, but was awarded the victory after the first four riders, Maurice Garin, Lucien Pothier, César Garin, and Hippolyte Aucouturier were all disqualified after a torrid Tour.

Youngest Titanic survivor

Millvina Dean (UK, b. 2 February 1912) was just 69 days old when she travelled third class on the Titanic cruiseliner with her parents and 18-month-old brother. She, along with her mother and brother, all survived when the “unsinkable” ship sank on 14 April 1912, but her father, Bert, was among the 1,517 passengers who perished in the infamous tragedy. Youngest Zumba® instructor

The youngest Zumba® instructor is Catalina Mejia (USA), who qualified as an instructor on 9 December 2007 aged 11 years 4 months 12 days. Catalina is now 15 years old and regularly instructs Zumba® classes in her local gym in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA.

Youngest winner of the Le Mans 24-hour race

Before switching to Formula One, Alexander Wurz (Austria, b. 15 February 1974) cut his teeth in the world’s oldest and most prestigious endurance race: the 24 Hours of Le Mans. On 15–16 June 1996, driving for Joest Racing (Germany), he became the French event’s youngest-ever winner, aged just 22 years 123 days.

Youngest winner of the Daytona 500

The youngest person to win the NASCAR Daytona 500 is Trevor Bayne (USA), who won the “Great American Race” at the age of 20 years and 1 day in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA, on 20 February 2011. Bayne became the first driver since Lee Petty in 1959 to win the race on his first attempt, although Petty possessed an advantage as his win came in the first-ever running of the race!
