The world’s largest pocket knife measures 6.02 m (17 ft 33 in) when open and has a steel blade 2.46 m (8 ft 1 in) long. It was designed and made by Garima Foundation and Pankaj Ojha (all India) and was presented at the Pink Square Mall, Jaipur, India, on 21 December 2010. The record for the largest wooden spoon was also broken at the same event.
The largest full drum kit ensemble consisted of 798 participants and was achieved by Richard Prince and Stick it to MS (UK) at EventCity in Manchester, UK, on 15 July 2012. Participants completed two full performances, one led by an in-person conductor and one by metronome.
In January 2001, scientists at Advanced Cell Technologies, Massachsetts, USA announced that they had for the first time successfully grown kidneys using cloning technology. The technique took a DNA-containing nucleus from a single cow skin cell and fused it with a host egg. The egg multiplied into an embryo rich in stem cells. These cells were chemically manipulated to grow into kidney cells, using an artifical kidney-shaped scaffold. The largest pack of playing cards measured 129.54 cm x 93.98 cm (4 ft 3 in x 3 ft 1 in) and was created by Viejas Casino & Resort (USA) in Alpine, California, USA, on 12 September 2013. The playing cards were played in a hand of blackjack on the largest blackjack table to celebrate the Casino and Resort’s anniversary.
The heaviest pumpkin weighed 911.27 kg (2,009 lb) when it was presented by Ron Wallace (USA) at the New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off at Topsfield Fair in Topsfield, Massachusetts, USA, on 28 September 2012. The winning pumpkin was a specimen of the Atlantic Giant variety of the Curcubita Maxima species.
The longest working career as a writer and presenter of TV nature programmes belongs to Sir David Attenborough (UK), whose first series, Zoo Quest (BBC), was broadcast in 1954. The largest serving of nachos weighed 2,126.89 kg (4,689 lb) and was achieved by Centerplate at University of Kansas (USA) in Lawrence, Kansas, USA, on 21 April 2012. Containing 765 lbs of nacho chips, 405 lbs of salsa, 323 llbs of tomato, 918 llbs of meat and beans, and more than 2200 llbs of cheese the nachos were served in enormous heaped servings to athletes at the University of Kansas stadium.
