The greatest attendance at a cricket match is about 394,000 for the Test between India and England at Eden Gardens, Calcutta (now Kolkata), India on 1-6 January 1982.

The record for a Test series is 933,513 for Australia v. England (five matches) in 1936-37.
The greatest recorded attendance at a cricket match on one day was 90,800 on the second day of the Test between Australia and the West Indies at Melbourne on 11 February 1961.

The English match record is 159,000 for England v. Australia at Headingley, Leeds on 22-27 July 1948, and the record for one day probably a capacity of 46,000 for Lancashire v. Yorkshire at Old Trafford, UK on 2 August 1926.
The English record for a Test series is 549,650 for the series against Australia in 1953. The highest attendance for a limited-overs game is an estimated 90,450 at Eden Gardens to see India play South Africa on the latter’s return to official international cricket, on 10 November 1991.
