The largest fishing tournament is 3,752 participants, achieved at the Bagdad Beach Sea Fishing Tournament, organised by Gobierno Municipal 2011-2013 H. Matamoros Tamaulipas Mexico and Promotora de Pesca Deportiva SA de CV (both Mexico) in Bagdad Beach, Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, on 9 September 2012

Registration for the event began on 8 September 2012, the day before the event, due to the large amount of participants involved. There were a total of 34 monetary prizes distributed to winners of the tournament. The attempt was held on a stretch of 40 km on the beach.
