The United States Navy has 71 armed submarines: 14 SSBN strategic ballistic missile submarines, nuclear fuelled, and 57 tactical submarines, of which four are SSGN (attack submarines with dedicated non-ballistic missile launchers) and 53 are SSN (attack submarines, nuclear powered).
