The largest sculpture made of plastic bags consisted of 36,700 plastic bags in the shape of a globe. The sculpture was constructed by volunteers in an attempt organized by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works (USA) in Los Angeles, USA, on 31 December 2009.

The sculpture consisted of more than 36,700 bags in total, however only this number could be verified by the witness statements.
