Metroid Prime (GameCube) – the first 3D game in the series – is the highest rated game of the franchise, receiving average review scores of 97%. However, the 1994 instalment Super Metroid (SNES) is often cited as the best game of the series: in 2002 was even voted best game of all time by 12 editors from Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine.
