The most plastic bottles recycled in eight hours weigh 8,799.9 kg (19,400.45 lb) and was achieved by Nestle Waters China Project WET in Shanghai, China, on 21 March 2011.
Students from 121 schools in Shanghai took part in the event.The students collected the bottles from home or their neighbors by hand, and then they took the bottles to the school. Then the bottles precollected by the schools were transported to the warehouse by Nestle Waters. On the attempt day,Nestle Waters transported all the bottles to a recycle center and had them weighed. The bottles were sold to the recycle center and the money was donated to Shanghai Charity Foundation.
