Newest amphibians

The discovery of three new species of amphibian was announced in 25 November 2010. Native to the rainforests of Choco in western Colombia and still awaiting formal scientific names and descriptions, they are a previously unknown species of toad with ruby-coloured eyes, a new species of rocket frog with bright red flashes on its legs, and a small new toad with a long beak that hides away in dead leaves. Unusually for such creatures, they were all found to be active during the daytime.

Newest monkey

Scientifically described and named in summer 2010, the world´s newest species of monkey is the Caquetá titi (Callicebus caquetensis). The size of a cat, it sports reddish-grey fur but lacks the distinctive white bar on its brow that most other allied species of titi possess. Discovered by Dr Thomas Defler, Dr Marta Bueno, and undergraduate student Javier Garcia from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, with support from Conservation International, it inhabits the Colombian Amazon region close to the borders with Peru and Ecuador.

Most plastic bottle tops recycled (8 hours)

The most plastic bottle caps recycled in 8 hours is 156,460 kg (344,935.25 lb) and was achieved by Fundación Sanar (Colombia) at Multiparque, Bogota, Colombia on 5 October 2013. Over 300 police cadets helped with the logistics on the day with millons of Colombians collecting bottle caps across the country, they were delivered by 4-72 the Colombian state postal service. Largest exercise demonstration / class

The largest aerobics display involved 50,420 participants at an event organised by Instituto Distrital de Recreation y Deporte (Colombia) at Simon Bolivar Metropolitan Park in Bogota, Colombia, on 15 August 2011. The class lasted 62 minutes, including 12 minutes of warmup and 50 minutes of class time.
