The most volleyball smashes completed in one minute by a team of four is nine and was set by Stephane Mathurin, Denis Damel, Sebastien Le Bosse and Stephane Faure (all France) on the set of L’Ete De Tous Les Records, in Soulac, France on 15 August 2005.

Most vocal solos in a song recording

The most vocals in one song was achieved by 200 participants visiting La-Part-Dieu shopping centre, whose voices were recorded separately to make an original composition at La-Part-Dieu shopping centre, Lyon, France, on 4th-7th May 2010. The participants all sung only a line or word each of the original composition song, entitled ‘La Grande Chanson du Monde’ (The Greatest Song in the World). The oldest functioning car is La Marquise, a steam-powered, four-wheeled, four-seater vehicle, manufactured by De Dion Bouton et Trépardoux (France) in 1884; three years later it won the world’s first automobile race, powering along the 30.5-km (19-mile) track at an average of 42 km/h (26 mph) from Paris to Neuilly, France. La Marquise was sold at auction for $3,520,000 (£1,767,000) by Gooding & Co (USA), in Pebble Beach, California, USA on 19 August 2007. On 1 February 2002, François Fernandez (France, b. 17 April 1906) and Madeleine Francineau (France, b. 15 July 1907) exchanged marriage vows at the rest home Le Foyer du Romarin, Clapiers, France, at the age of 96 years 290 days and 94 years 201 days, respectively. Total aggregate years between them at the time of the wedding ceremony was a record 191 years 126 days.

The greatest fully authenticated age to which any human has ever lived is 122 years 164 days by Jeanne Louise Calment (France). Born on 21 February 1875 to Nicolas (1837 – 1931) and Marguerite (neé Gilles 1838 – 1924), Jeanne died at a nursing home in Arles, southern France on 4 August 1997. Oldest to become Chief of State

Following the German invasion of France in 1940, Henri Philipe Pétain (1856 – 1951) was recalled to active military service as adviser to the minister of war. On 16 June 1940, at the age of 84, he succeeded Paul Reynaud as premier of France making Pentain the oldest in the world at first appointment to become cheif of state.
