The largest Sirtaki dance was achieved by 5,614 people in an event organised by EKPOL, the Social and Cultural Council of the Prefecture of Magnesia, in Volos, Thessaly, Greece on 31 August 2012 The record attempt started with 6,400 people. The event was organised by Costas Agorastos – the Prefect of Perfecture Thessaly.

The longest career as a lawyer is 62 years 286 days and was achieved by Dimitrios Papatheofanous (b. 31 July 1922, Greece) who served as a professional lawyer in Athens, Greece, from 10 February 1948 until 20 December 2010. Dimitrios Papatheofanous was awarded the title of Honorary Lawyer of the Athens Bar Association.

Longest human powered flight (distance)

Kanellos Kanellopoulos (Greece) pedalled his Daedalus 88 aircraft 115.11 km (71.52 miles) from Heraklion, Crete, to the Greek island of Santorini on 23 April 1988. His epic flight lasted 3 hr 54 min 59 sec before an offshore gust broke off the plane’s tail and it crashed into the sea a few feet from the shore.

Longest mastodon tusk

The longest mastodon tusk measures 5.02 m (16 ft 6 in) and was excavated from 17 to 28 July 2007, at a dig in Milia, Grevena, Greece, supervised by associate professor Evangelia Tsoukala, Dick Mol, research associate at the Natural History Museum of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and a paleontological team from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the School of Geology. The longest pasteli was a melekouni variety dessert and measured 30 m (98 ft 5 in) in length by 20cm (7 inches) in width and was created by twelve chefs in an event organised by the Association for the Development and Progress of the Dodecanese (DETAP) (Greece) at the Mandraki Harbour on the Island of Rhodes, Greece, on 26 September 2010. Most durable Olympic torch bearer

The most durable Olympic torchbearer is Pandelis Konstantinidis (Greece) who took part in the 2008 Olympic torch relay, 72 years after taking part in the 1936 Olympic torch relay. Pandelis was just 19 when he took part in the 1936 torch relay, the first ever Olympic torch relay. He also took part in the 2004 relay for the Athens Olympics. The 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin while the 2008 Olympics are to be hosted in Beijing.

The most Martial Arts throws in one minute is 65 and was achieved by Mr Konstantinos Karipidis (Greece) in Alexandroupolis’ municipality indoor gymnasium, in Alexandroupolis, Greece, on 28 May 2011. This event was organised for the second year in a row by the Greek Koryu Begei Association which is a Martial Arts organisation in Alexandroupolis.
