The most irons bars bent in a minute is 24 and was achieved by Alexander Muromskiy (Russia) at Global city shopping centre, in Moscow, Russia, on 30 April 2011. Alexander Muromskiy had organised a day of activities outside the shopping centre and part of the days events was to beat his own Guinness World Records title for the most telephone directories torn behind the back in three minutes. I timed the attempt whilst two independent witnesses were present on stage with me.

Most languages taught in an academic institution

As of 2010, MGIMO University (Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University)) teaches 53 full time languages during every academic term, the most for any academic institution. All students at the university are required to learn a minimum of one foreign language. All languages are taught to advanced levels and are all taught through residential learning.

The most powerful gas turbine-electric locomotive is the russian GT1-001 with a maximum capacity of 8300 kW. The locomotive was tested in Shcherbinka, Russia, on 23 January 2009. The most time spent in space by an individual is 803 days 9 hours and 39 minutes, by Sergei Krikalev (Russia). He was selected as a cosmonaut in 1985 and has since completed six spaceflights. His most recent flight, as commander of the International Space Station, began on 14 April 2005 and ended on 10 October 2005.

The greatest area ploughed in 24 hours with a tractor VERSATILE 535 (535 hp) with disc harrow XXL Gregoire Besson (14m) to a depth of 10 cm (3.94 in) is 417.4 ha. This was achieved by ROSTSELMASH company (Russia) and Gregoire Besson (France) in Kevsala village, Russia, on 12-13 July 2010.

The smallest digital voice recorder is the Edic-mini Tiny A31, by Telesystems (Russia). It measures just 29×12×15 mm (1.14×0.47×0.59 inches) and weighs 6 g (0.21 oz). It was introduced in May 2009. The new model is capable of up to 1,200 hours of recording time with the top, 8gb capacity version, and a battery life in record mode of up to 140 hours on a 75mAh Li-Pol rechargable battery.

The smallest Rubik’s Cube is10 mm (0.39 in) wide and was created by Evgeniy Grigoriev (Russia). It is fully functional and can be used like a normal Rubik’s Cube. The widest continental shelf in the world extends 1,210 km (750 miles) off the coast of Siberia, Russia, into the Arctic Ocean. Continental shelves are an extension of coastal plains and are characterised by broadly-sloping submerged plains. Approximately 7.4% of the world’s ocean surface sits above continental shelves, which have a global average width of around 78 km (48 miles).

The fastest unimotorcycle drag race elapsed time is 2.38 seconds, and was achieved by Roman Koltakov (Russia), who covered 100 ft (30.5 m) at the World Ice Championships of Unimotorcycle Drag Racing at Togliatti, Russia, on 21 January 2012.
