The most people dressed as Smurfs was 2,510 and was achieved by Jokers’ Masquerade with the help of Swansea University at Swansea Oceana in Swansea, UK, on 8th June 2009. Faces, arms and legs must be painted blue to be counted towards the total.
The most people gunged in three minutes is 24 achieved by Paul O’Grady and his guests Davina McCall and Richard Arnold (all UK) on the set of The New Paul O’Grady Show, London, UK, on 2 June 2008. Adjudicated by Amarilis Espinoza.
The most people planting flower bulbs simultaneously was achieved by 636 participants in an event organised by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (UK), at Butt’s Close Park at Hitchin, UK, on 2 October 2010. The group planted Ruby Giant crocus bulbs.
The most people performing sign language simultaneously to the same song in different locations is 114,277 and was organised by the charity SignHealth (UK) in schools across the UK, on 8 February 2012.
The most people performing Shakespeare on a single day is 7,104 schoolchildren as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival all around the UK on 3 July 2005. Children from schools all round the UK took part playing roles in many of Shakespeare’s best loved plays in theatres around the country. They reckon 92 theatres hosted 368 productions. This was organised in conjunction with the BBC.
The most people playing swingball at a single venue is 210 and was achieved by Barclays Stockbrokers (UK) at the Kelvin Hall sports centre in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, on 7 October 2011. The attempt raised £7,000 for ClicSargent, a children’s cancer charity.
The most people running 100 metres in a 1 hour relay was 191 and was achieved by Bank of Scotland (UK) during the Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week at Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow, Scotland on 7 June 2011. The 191 participants were children aged 10-12 years. They were selected to take part in the record attempt by 36 participating schools.
