Youngest person to row across the Atlantic west to east solo

The youngest person to row the Atlantic solo and unsupported is Oliver Hicks (UK, b. 3 December 1981) who crossed the Atlantic West to East solo and unsupported between 27 May and 28 September 2005 on board Miss Olive, Virgin Atlantic at the age of 23 years, 175 days at the start. He rowed from Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, USA, to St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly, UK, in 123 days 22 hr 8 min, to become the first person to row from mainland USA to mainland UK solo and unsupported, and the youngest person to row any ocean solo and unsupported.

Oliver officially crossed the Atlantic when he passed the Bishop’s Rock longitude on 28 September 2005 at 10:56 BST, and landed on Porthcressa Beach on St Mary’s, Scilly Isles, at 13:43. Oliver made landfall at Falmouth on 30 September at 11:30, where he was showered in champagne by Virgin’s Richard Branson and schoolfriend Prince William.
