Highest bungee jump from a building

The highest bungee jump from a building is 199 m (652 ft 10 in) and was achieved by A.J. Hackett (New Zealand) who leaped off a platform at 233 m (764 ft 5 in) on the Macau Tower, Macau, China, on 17 December 2006. The key point here, is that the distance between the ground and AJ was 34 m (111 ft 6 in). This, naturally, is a lot different to people who claim to have bungeed off the highest building, but have used a Continue reading →

Highest bungee jump

Curtis Rivers (UK) performed a bungee jump from a hot air balloon at 4,632 m (15,200 ft) over Puertollano, Spain, on 5 May 2002 – thus achieving the highest altitude bungee jump. He jumped using a 10 m (33 ft) cord, which stretched to 30 m (98 ft). After bouncing five times he freed himself from the cord and parachuted to the ground. At jump altitude the air was so thin that breathing equipment had to be used.

Highest bungee jump, tandem

Grant Denyer (Australia) and AJ Hackett (New Zealand) bungee jumped from a helicopter hovering at 300 m (984 ft) above the water near Bondi Beach, NSW, Australia, on 11 November 2005. The cord stretched to 250 m (820 ft) during the attempt. I can confirm to you that the length of the bungy cord from end to end un-stretched was 60.5 meters and 33 ply. When fully stretched the bungy cord was 250m long. This is the measurement from the top of the bungy cord Continue reading →

He was later given a Guinness World Records title for highest cable car Continue reading →

Highest cliffs in the Solar System

NASA’s Voyager 2 probe encountered the planet Uranus and its collection of moons in 1986. The small moon Miranda, with a diameter of 472 km, has a surface made up of a jumble of bizarre geological features. One of the most prominent of these features is an enormous cliff with a vertical relief of about 20km 12 miles. This cliff, named Verona Rupes, is more than ten times higher than the walls of the Grand Canyon on Earth. That this towering cliff is so huge Continue reading →
