It was prepared by Army chefs Nik Smith and Mick Watson, Andrew Winder from Lancaster and Morecambe College, local cook Avis Jones and a team of volunteers.

The largest hula hoop has a diameter of 5.04 m (16 ft 6.7 in) and was spun three and three quarter consecutive times by Ashrita Furman (USA) at Hillcrest High School in New York, New York, USA, on 9 September 2010. THe hula hoop was made of carbon fiber.
The largest hula dance involved 797 participants, in an event organised by Yokohama Hawaii Festival, at the Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Centre Rinko Park, Yokohama, Japan on 11 July 2009. The record attempt was part of the Yokohama Hawai’i Festival held each year in Yokohama Japan.
