On 4 November 2007, a new distance record was set for a micro-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in Lancaster, California, USA. The “Pterosoar”, a joint project between Oklahoma State University and California State University (both USA), flew 120 km (74.5 miles) consuming only 16 of the 64 g of hydrogen carried on board in a pressurized hydrogen tank. Potentially the UAV could significantly increase this distance to nearly 500 km (310 miles) based on its fuel capacity.
Zephyr is a High-Altitude Long-Endurance (HALE) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) made of ultra-lightweight carbon-fibre. It flies on solar power generated by amorphous silicon arrays covering the aircraft’s wings, no thicker than sheets of paper. It is powered day and night by rechargeable lithium-sulphur batteries that are recharged during the day using solar power. On 9 July 2010, Zephyr was launched at 0641hours and set three new world records. They are currently awaiting ratification by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale and were: The absolute duration record for

Stromatolites have the longest fossil record of any form of life on Earth. These cauliflower-shaped, rock-like structures are formed by the activity of cyanobacteria and appeared on Earth as early as 3.5 billion years ago. In 1954 a colony of living stromatolites was discovered in Shark Bay, Australia, with forms similar to those from the Precambrian era.

The longest circuit by lap distance to host a Formula One World Championship race was the Pescara Circuit, which hosted a race in 1957, when the road course measured 16 miles (25.8 km). Sections of the circuit ran along a cliff edge, and other sections were hilly, leading many experts to contend that Pescara was the most dangerous F1 track of all time.
