Longest journey swimming

The longest journey swimming is 5,268 km (3273.38 miles) and was achieved by Martin Strel (Slovenia) who swam the entire length of the Amazon River, Peru/Brazil, from 1 February to 8 April 2007. Martin swam as little as 9 kilometres one day and as much as 127 kilometres on one day as he swam the length of the river in 67 days. He started in Atalaya, Peru and finished in Belem, Brazil.

Longest journey pushing a wheelbarrow

The longest wheelbarrow push was one of some 14,500 km (9,000 miles), from 24 April 1975 to 6 May 1978 by Bob Hanley (Australia), starting and finishing at Sydney and pushing through Townsville, Mt Isa, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, the Nullarbor Plain, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.

Longest journey overland by a submarine

The location, in 2007, of three German submarines from the second world war scuttled in the Black Sea, has highlighted a remarkable feat of wartime transportation. The submarines, including one U-23 that was originally commanded by Otto Kretschmer (Germany), were located by a Turkish marine engineer, Selçuk Kolay. Longest kiiking swing shaft successfully acheived – men

The longest swing shaft used to successfully complete a 360° rotation in kiiking is 7.02 m (23 ft) by Andrus Aasamäe (Estonia) in Haapsalu, Estonia, on 21 August 2004. Kiiking is a sport in Baltic and Scandinavian countries where the aim is to complete a 360 degree revolution on a swing. The record being based on the length of the shafts for the swing, the longer the better.     

Longest kickoff return for a touchdown

The longest kickoff return for a touchdown in NFL history was 108 yards (98.75 m), first by Ellis Hobbs (USA) playing for the New England Patriots against the New York Jets, on 9 September 2007, and later matched by Randall Cobb (USA) playing for the Green Bay Packers against the New Orleans Saints on 8 September 2011. To achieve this, a player must field the kickoff within their own end zone and return the ball the length of the field for a score.
