The longest marathon club DJ-ing is 168 hours, achieved by Smokin’ Joe Mekhael (Australia) in The Empire Hotel in Kings Cross, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia from 16 December to 23 December 2012.
The longest church organ marathon is 40 hours and 36 minutes and was achieved by Jacqueline Sadler (Canada) at Eastminster United Church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 20-22 June 2011. All songs played during the marathon were hymns from the United Church Hymnals: “Voices United and More Voices”.
The longest dance marathon by an individual was 123 hours and 15 minutes and was achieved by Kalamandalam Hemaletha (India) at the Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Academy in Thrissur, Kerala, India from 20 to 26 September 2010. Hemaletha danced the Mohiniyattam dance.
The longest dance marathon by a couple was performed by Francisco Petatán-Garcia and Joana Salinas-Aviles (both Mexico), who continuously danced for 35 hours in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico, on 15-16 November 2008. Francisco and Joana are both professional dancers and were supported by the Mexican Institute of Social Security
The longest marathon playing curling was 61 hr 39 min 33 sec, and was achieved by a group of 10 players from the Dumfries Ice Bowl in Dumfries, Dumfries and Galloway, UK from 1 to 3 March 2012. Team 1 members were: Graham Sloan, David Owen, Scott Robertson, Graham Black, James Findlay. Representing Team 2 were: Neil Henderson, Stuart Henerson, Duncan Gracie, Ruaraidh Whyte and Chris Jardine. Team 2 prevailed over Team 1 with a score of 220 – 215
Two teams of two consisting of Ray Edensor and Emma Parker and Paul Gauntlett and Mark Brookes, from the Staffordshire Ambulance Service, completed a CPR marathon (cardiopulmonary resuscitation—15 compressions alternating with two breaths) of 151 hours at Asda Superstore, Stafford, UK from 19–25 January 2004.
The longest hula hooping marathon by an individual using a single hoop is 74 hours and 54 minutes and was achieved by Aaron Hibbs (USA) in Columbus, Ohio, USA on 22-25 October 2009. Aaron had his own news segment on Fox News 28 after the attempt. Over 100 people helped him through the impressive feat and he secured the record after no one had beaten it for 25 years.
The longest marathon hosting a radio talk show by a team is 57 hours and was achieved by WZAQ 92.3 WAY FM (USA) in Louisa, Kentucky, USA, on 1-3 December 2011. The team consisted of Jeromy Sutherland, Matt Barker and Stephen Gould (all USA). The contemporary Christian theme for the show drew listeners in from the Vatican area of Rome and a powerful on-air prayer is credited for the team’s revival around the 36 hour mark when things got tough.
