The longest temporary bar was 796.82 m (2,614 ft 2 in) and was achieved by Northcoast University (USA) in Maumee, Ohio, USA, on 11 June 2011. The bar was created out of tables that were lined up. This is the same way the previous holder set up their bar.

Longest television interview

The longest television interview lasted 12 hr 00 min 30 sec and was achieved by Pedro Ruiz (Spain) and Veo7 on the set of 12 horas sin piedad, at Hotel Wellington, Madrid, Spain, from 4-5 July 2009. Pedro Ruiz fielded questions from a host of Spanish celebrities, including Isabel Gemio, Monica Hoyos and Miguel Angel Almodovar. The attempt was broadcast live on Veo7 from a conference room in the famous Hotel Wellington who boast Spanish and British royalty as former guests.

Longest theatrical run of a musical in the West End

Les Misérables is the longest running musical in the history of the West End, with it’s 9,000th show performed at the Queen’s Theatre, London, UK on 10 August 2007. The Cameron Mackintosh/Royal Shakespeare Company production of Les Misérables first opened in the West End at The Palace on 4 December 1985 (transferred from The Barbican where it opened on 8 October 1985). It closed at the Palace Theatre on 27 March 2004 to re-opened at the Queen’s Theatre on 3 April 2004.

The off-Broadway musical The Fantasticks by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt (both USA), opened on 3 May 1960 and finally closed on 13 January 2002 having been performed a record 17,162 times at the Sullivan Street Playhouse, Greenwich Village, New York, USA.

Longest theatrical run of a comedy

Since first opening at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, UK, on 18 August 1979, NewsRevue has continued its’ run in London, UK, at the Kings Head Theatre (1979), Gate Theatre (1980–85) and the Canal Café Theatre (1985 to present) as well as producing a concurrent production every August for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The record for the longest run of a theatrical play with the same cast is for the play ‘Exercises in Style’ performed by Pero Kvrgic and Lela Margitic and directed by Tomislav Radic (all Croatia) from January 1970 to present. The opening night of this play was on 19 January 1968, but in 1970 the leading actress role passed from Mia Oremovic to Lela Margitic. Longest throw-in (Football)

The longest throw-in (football) was 51.33 m (168 ft 4.8 in) by Thomas Gronnemark (Denmark) at the grounds of FC Horsens in Horsens, Denmark, on 18 June 2010. Gronnemark’s successful “flip” throw came on his seventh attempt of the day, performed as a demonstration at a girls’ football camp.

The record the longest throw of an object without any velocity-aiding feature is 427.2 m (1,401.5 ft) by David Schummy (Australia) with a boomerang on 15 March 2005 at Murrarie Recreation Ground, Queensland, Australia.

Longest thread of hand-spun wool in one hour

The longest thread of hand-spun wool in one hour was 99 metres and 45 centimetres (326 ft 27 in) and was achieved by Ruth Gough (UK) at the University of Huddersfield, Huddersfield, UK on 23 September 2011. The wool was measured laid flat with no tension. Six women competed during the hour to see who would spin the longest wool: Linda Scurr, Samantha Davies, Debbie Fisher, Briony Ramsden, Linda Lewis and Ruth Gough.
