Largest serving of chips (fries)

The largest serving of chips weighed 448 kg (987 lb 10 oz) and was made by Adventure Island (UK), in Southend on Sea, Essex, UK, on 29 June 2011.

The largest serving of chips was made by James Gibbs, Gregg Smith, Barry Campney, Sean Handley and Tim rainbow. The attempt started at 11 a.m. and finished at 3.20 p.m. The chips were presented in a specially prepared fish and chips box which was placed on an Excell PW1212 platform scale. The box was a scaled up version of the container normally used to serve chips at Adventure Islan. It measured 137 cm x 116 cm x 75 cm and weighed 32 kg. The weight of the container was subtracted from the total weight of 480 kg, leaving the net weight at 448 kg. Portions of chips were sold for £1 per box. The rest were donated to feed pigs at Wick’s Manor Farm in Maldon.
