The longest individual cricket net session lasted 26 hours and was completed by Alby Shale (UK) at the Kia Oval, London, UK on 15-16 July 2013. Alby faced a total of 6,062 deliveries, a few of which were bowled by British Prime Minister David Cameron (UK). The attempt was to raise funds for the Rwandan Cricket Stadium Foundation.
Between 6 November 1988 and 3 December 1989 Hughie Thompson, John Weston and Richard Steel (all UK) covered 87,367 km (54,289 miles) through 18 countries in the World Bus, a red London Routemaster double-decker bus. The route was London, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Milan, Istanbul, Dubai, Lahore, Bombay, Singapore, Perth, Sydney, Rio, Santiago, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Liverpool, London.
In March 2010 a 1988 Volkswagon Scirocco was driven 337 km from London to Manchester (UK) powered by coffee. The modified car works by heating the coffee granules in a charcoal fire, when then break down into carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The gas is then cooled and filtered before the hydrogen is combusted to drive the engine. ‘Car-puccino’ can reportedly reach 60 mph and achieved 1 mile per 56 espressos. The process works because coffee granules contain a small amount of carbon.
The longest journey by a fire engine is 50,957 km (31,663 miles) long and was achieved by Stephen Moore (UK), who started his journey from Greenwich, UK, on 18 July 2010 and finished it at the same place, on 10 April 2011. The longest journey by rickshaw was made by Tim Moss (UK) who cycled 1,377.96 km (856.22 mi) from Aviemore, Scotland to West Molesey, England, from 26 April to 19 May 2010. The rickshaw Tim used for his attempt was a second-hand, box-standard, three-wheeled rickshaw, capable of carrying passengers. Throughout his journey, Tim visited several Special Olympics locations as his journey was made to raise money for the Special Olympics Great Britain. 7The longest journey on an electric mobility vehicle is 8609.24 km (5,349.52 miles) and was achieved by John Duckworth, John Seamons, Simon Parrott, Jason Uren and Geoff West (all UK) who travelled from Land’s End, anticlockwise around mainland UK, back to Land’s End on a Horizon Ventura electric mobility scooter from 24 June to 17 October 2007. John Duckworth, Simon Parrott and Geoff West were the previous record holders as well.
John Duckworth (UK) travelled 2,662.8 km (1654.6 miles) around mainland UK on a Horizon Mayan electric mobility scooter between 20 June 2004 and 27 July 2004, finishing in Hincaster, Cumbria, UK. John was supported at different points of the journey by Simon Parrott, Richard Wood, David Benham and Geoff West.
The longest line of dancing drag queens was achieved by 128 participants at The Great Drag Race organised by The X Foundation (UK) in London, England, UK, on 19 June 2010. The event raised £20,000 for the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation and Prostate Cancer Support Foundation.
The longest line of bowls of noodles consisted of 1,288 noodle bowls and measured 185 m (607 ft). It was achieved by Dreamworks for the DVD launch of Kung Fu Panda 2 in China Town, London, UK, on 13 November 2011. The noodles were prepared by local restaurateur Geoffrey Leong and his staff. The line stretched along the full length of Gerard Street in the heart of London’s China Town, and even doubles back to cram even more bowls into the space available.
