Longest underwater walk

The longest underwater walk was 73.39 m (240 ft, 9 in) by Joseph Wilkie (USA) at the Town of Tonawanda Aquatic and Fitness Center in Tonawanda, New York, USA, on 5 August 2011. Wilkie held a 25 lb (11.34 kg) weight plate to keep himself submerged whilst running along the floor of the center’s pool.

Longest underwater power cable

The longest underwater power cable is 577.5 km (358.84 miles) long and connects the norwegian power grid at Feda with the dutch power grid at Eemshaven. The cable was laid by TenneT TSO B.V. and Statnett and inaugurated on 11 September 2008. The single cable weighs 37.5 kg per metre, the double cable 85 kg per metre. The current passing through the cable is direct current (DC). the cable has a capacity of 700 MW.

Longest underwater live radio broadcast

The longest underwater live radio broadcast (unsupported) is 4 hours, 43 minutes and 54 seconds. It was achieved by Richard Hatch (UK), presenter on BFBS Radio, at The Underwater Studios, Essex, UK, on 24 November 2011. The record attempt was called the ‘BFBS Pool Party’ was broadcast live to British troops around the world and on the front line including Afghanistan. The show included a live pool side performance by British band Toploader.

Longest underwater kiss (apnea)

The longest underwater kiss in apnea lasted 3 min 24 sec 34 frames and was achieved by Michele Fucarino and Elisa Lazzarini (both Italy) on the set of Lo Show dei Record in Rome, Italy, on 18 March 2010. The record was part of the Italian TV show “Lo Show dei Record”.

The longest speech ever given to the UN was delivered in 1957 by the Indian politician VK Krishna Menon, who talked for nearly eight hours while defending India’s position on Kashmir.

Longest Tyrolean traverse

The longest Tyrolean traverse measures 1,550 metres (5,085 ft 3 in) across the Malyovitsa and Orlovets peaks in Bulgaria. It was erected by the STISKALITI climbing wall team and crossed by Daniel Stefanov (Bulgaria) in 5 hr 34 min on 19 September 2008.

Longest vehicle drift

The longest vehicle drift is 144.126 km (89.55 miles) and was achieved by Harald Müller (Germany) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Turkey) in Samsun, Turkey, on 15 July 2014. The record was attempted in a round course that measured 235.50 m. Harald Müller managed to complete 612 laps in 2 hours, 25 minutes and 18 seconds driving a Toyota GT 86 (2012 model), 200 PS and 235 Nm (newton meter torque). The longest videogames marathon playing a mobile phone game lasted 24 hours 10 minutes, and was achieved by Paul Dahlhoff (Germany), Martin Fornleitner, Hans Peter Glock and Stefan Reichspfarrer (all Austria) who played on Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (TM) handsets in Vienna, Austria, from 19 – 20 August 2011. Each participant played a different game: Reichspfarrer played Rainbow Six (Ubisof, 2011), Fornleitner played Minecraft (Notch, 2010), Dahlhoff played Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 (Konami, 2011) and Glock played Dungeon Defenders (Trendy Entertainment, 2011).

The longest video games marathon playing a Japanese role-playing game was achieved by Philip Kollar (USA) who played the Final Fantasy series for 34 hours in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, from 6-7 August 2011. The attempt started at 9:02 am on 6 August and ended 7:02 pm on 7 August 2011. Philip Kollar is an Associate Editor at Game Informer and the attempt took place in Game Informer’s offices.
