Largest star taaffeite

The largest star taaffeite weighs 5.36 carats (1.072 grams; 0.037 oz) and measures 11.46 x 8.65 x 7.02 mm (0.45 x 0.34 x 0.27 in). It is owned by Miho Ozawa (Japan). Taaffeite is a pink/purple rare gem mineral and the star taaffeite variety is know as one of the rarest gemstones.

Largest stick bomb

The largest stick bomb consists of 9,911 sticks and was created by MegaHouse Corporation (Japan). It was presented and activated at the International Tokyo Toy Show 2012 in Koto, Tokyo, Japan, on 14 June 2012. Since tongue depressors are not commonly used in Japan, MegaHouse Corporation used its own product to attempt this record. They first used 10,000 sticks, but some did not get activated, so the final count of sticks that “exploded” became 9,911.

Largest Taishogoto

The largest playable taishogoto ever made measures 210.5 cm (6 ft 10 in) long and 41 cm (1 ft 4 in) wide and weighs 23.2 kg (51 lb). It was made by Kindenryu Taisho-koto (Japan) and played at their annual festival on 13 April 2008. The taishogoto was played at the ‘Largest taishogoto ensemble’ record attempt which Kaoru Ishikawa adjudicated.

Largest taco rice

The largest taco rice weighed 746 kg (1,644 lb 10 oz) and was made by Kincho Shokokai (Japan) at Nature Miraikan Koryu Hiroba in Kin-cho, Okinawa, Japan, on 14 November 2010. More than 2,100 volunteers participated. The taco rice was served to all the participants after the record attempt.

Largest temporary coin mural

The largest temporary coin mural used 2,546,270 one yen coins and measured 98.3 ft x 131.2 ft (30 m x 40 m). It was created as part of the Saitama Festival by the Saitamachuo Junior Chamber and Festival Committee in Saitama, Japan on 10 October 2004. The mural depicted a portrait of John Lennon to promote love and peace. The money was all donated to the Spirit Foundation charity.

Largest toothpick mosaic

The largest toothpick mosaic was 40.521 square metres (436.16 square ft) and was created by the students of Tsugeno High School (Japan). It was finished and presented in Aichi, Shinshiro City, Japan, on 5 October 2008. All 229 Students of the school participated in creating the mosaic, they used a total of 1,620,840 toothpicks in seven different colours.

Largest ukulele ensemble

The largest ukulele ensemble consists of 2,134 participants and was performed during the Leiland Grow Inc. Ukulele Picnic (Japan) at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan on 28 July 2012. The Ukulele Picnic’s participants consisted of people with varying age range, from small kids to elderlies. Konishiki, a famous former sumo wrestler, joined the event on stage, and was counted as one of the participants.

Largest wooden barrel / cask

The largest wooden barrel measured 9 m (29 ft 7 in) tall, 9 m (29 ft 7 in) in diameter, and has a capacity of 540,000 litres (142,652.9 US gal). It was made by Fundokin Soy Co. Ltd. in Usuki City, Oita, Japan, in 2002. The barrel was made for brewing soy sauce.

Largest women’s marathon

The largest women’s marathon was the Nagoya Women’s Marathon 2012, which had 13,114 participants and was held in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan, on 11 March 2012. The Nagoya Women’s marathon 2012 was a qualifying race for the London Olympic, and its participants were solely women. Top three runners’ names and times, respectively, are Albina Mayorova (Russia) 2:23:52, Yoshimi Ozaki (Japan) 2:24:14, and Remi Nakazato (Japan) 2:24:28.
