The longest career as a solicitor is held by Roy Mervin Palmer (UK, b. 7 October 1929) who has been working as a practising lawyer since 1 November 1956. Palmer worked as a solicitor total of 54 years 9 months and 9 days as of 9 August 2011.

The longest chain of beads measures 8,668.575 m (5.39 miles) and was made by Colin Nesbitt (UK), Reece Randle (UK) and childhood cancer charity ‘Little Heroes’ (UK), in Bradford, UK, on 18 February 2013. The chain of beads was assembled by Colin Nesbitt and Reece Randle. Some of the lengths were made by children who had cancer and were in hospitals undergoing treatment. The world’s longest carrot measured 5.841 m (19 ft 1.96 in) and was grown by Joe Atherton (UK). The carrot was measured at the UK National Giant Vegetable Championship in Somerset, UK, on 2 September 2007.

The longest chain of people licking ice cream was achieved by 2,728 participants at an event organised by Morelli’s of Portstewart Ltd. (UK) in Portstewart, Northern Ireland, UK, on 23 July 2011. The event took place as part of a promotional campaign advertising Morelli’s ice cream.

Longest chain of glowsticks

The longest chain of glowsticks consists of 4,500 glowsticks and is 802.40 m (2,632 ft 6 in) long. It was created by members of the Phoenix Explorer Scout Unit (UK) in Culzean Castle & Country Park, Maybole, UK, on 24 September 2011. The record is measured by the number of glowsticks in the chain. Therefore, they beat the previous record even though the old record chain was longer.

The longest chain of skiers consisted of 60 participants skiing down a slope in an event organized by Chill Factore (UK) at the Trafford Quays Leisure Village in Manchester, UK, 9 November 2011. The participants held each other’s hand and went down the slope linked like that.

The longest coin spinning duration is 25.56 seconds, achieved by Mark Kinder (UK), in Thatcham, Berkshire, UK, on 02 December 2011. Longest marathon wakeboarding

The record for the longest wakeboarding marathon is 6 hr 17 min and was set by Ian Taylor (UK) who wakeboarded behind a cable tow at Whitecap Leisure on Willen Lake, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, UK on 1 September 2004. He completed 200 laps of a 860m circuit for a total distance of 172 km. He did not take any restbreaks as he was not sent the marathon guidelines which outlines these.

Longest continual TV subtitling (live)

The longest, continual, live subtitling for a TV programme lasted for 44 hours. The BBC Broadcast Subtitling Unit (UK) began subtitling the BBC’s live news coverage of the war in Iraq at 3 a.m. on 20 March and finished at 11 p.m. on 21 March 2003. The unit comprised of 12 stenographers working on various shifts at BBC Television Centre, London, UK and via remote access at the stenographer’s homes (all in the UK). The longest conga on ice involved 353 participants and was achieved by Ice Rink Canary Wharf (UK) in association with Tresor Paris, in Canary Wharf, London, UK, on 12 November 2013. This event was in aid of the Children in Need charity.
